Funny how little time one had to exist and how many thoughts one builded up. In, fact, this was something that had always struck her even from her schooldays. Time...was such a weird thing! She had always imagined that hard-thinking was the key to inmortality. "If I think hard enough I will never die" --she told herself-- "nothing and no one would take the liberty of stopping a nice train of thought-ideas are rare these days, specially original ones!".

But here she was, fifteen years later feeling the exact icy panic one could imagine of someone three seconds away from death. Her mind was no doubt working all right, her ideas were more original than ever; still she felt so hopeless, so lost in nothingness and so full of nonsense. That is the moment at which she ceased to believe in God.
